It was the cat-poles around the lake at his grandfather’s farm that inspired Ben Sollee’s debut album Learning To Bend. The frailty of those awkward looking plants standing stoutly against winds that challenged even the strongest of nearby trees is an affecting metaphor for human struggle and perseverance. This idea is central to Learning To Bend. Ben has found considerable success in recent years through his ability to bend. In 2007, he was named one of NPR’s “Top Ten Unknown Artists of the Year.” His distinctive cello technique and soulful voice have been marinating for years in his work with avant-garde bluesman Otis Taylor, The Sparrow Quartet, (featuring banjo-master Béla Fleck), and on the internationally known Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour.

Everybody is talking about Electric Codpiece! Full throttle and wide open from start to finish this band always brings the show. In Atlanta they play at The Five Spot, Moon Shadow Tavern, and Zuffy's Place. This is the band that reminds everyone not to take themselves too seriously and just enjoy life. If you are looking for that next band to throw down with and hang around for wild and crazy times then Electric Codpiece is a good fit for you.
Modern times fashion and style are determined by fashion houses and clothing designers, the same was not true during the Renaissance. During this period of re-birth of classical learning and advances in many areas, fashion was most often dictated by the nobility. With the exception of Elizabeth I, with her grand sense of uniqueness and style, the most unique style to come from the Renaissance was a man's accessory, the codpiece. The codpiece came into existence during the Middle Ages, became popular during the reigns of the Yorkists monarchs in England, attained full prominence during the reign of Henry VIII, and disappeared during the reign of Henry's daughter, Elizabeth I. The question of why the codpiece developed, changed and eventually disappeared can be answered fairly easily, if consideration is not given to the influence of the nobility in determining fashion and style. That the development of the codpiece was a necessity is commonly agreed upon by fashion historians.

When the Booty Band hits the stage, everybody dances! Having fun and feeling good is the philosophy as this Asheville, NC 7 piece band. They do whatever it takes to make you shake your big fat booty. Formed in 2002, they mix triumphant horns, laid-back grooves, and heavy backbeats to encompass many styles of music that can only be described as one Bounce Music. The swarms of swaying bodies at their shows testify to their thick ass thump and boundless energy. They're quickly becoming the hottest new funk band this side of and even in the Mississippi, adding colorful costumes and an interactive stage personality to make everyone in the room feel right at home.

JUNGOL
"The Jungle is an abstract blend of influences, defining themselves as progressive rock, inspired by funk. The style can be compared to a more monochromatic Mars Volta with some hints of U2. The sound is hard edged with loud instrumentals and softer, pop vocals. The sound is characteristic of much of the indie and progressive rock popular today, appealing to urban hipster types with a penchant for vocal effects. Jungle has the mass appeal of the Killers, with something of a radio friendly sound, though in keeping with their artistic integrity."

Nerd Parade/ YOU Charles / Random Rabbit
Doors @ 8 pm
Show @ 9 pm
Cover: $8
Garcia and Wilson, along with percussionist Chris Sheldon, Chief Science Officer Johnny “Blaze” Jacobus and multi-instrumental singer Lindsay Appel are the Nerd Parade, a titular phrase that is wholly descriptive of this group’s collective persona. Nerd Parade officially began in 2006 when a particularly disillusioned R. Garcia called upon his friends to take musical chances, zig where there could have easily been a zag, and never, ever take themselves too seriously.
The band currently lines its cap with a self-titled EP (self-released), a critically acclaimed full length; A Delicate Bashing (Headphone Treats), and an exclusive single on the One Condoms Sampler CD. If that wasn’t enough for the two-year-old Nerd Parade, the band also managed to tour vigorously in 2007 and has stayed busy with festivals, charity events, and one-off shows since their return.
RANDOM RABBIT
Random Rabbit's live show has become a thing of legend in Atlanta and beyond. The band's loose approach to their songs allows for awe-inspiring improvisation, giving any audience an undeniable excuse to dance all night long. As 2008 unfolds, new toys and instruments are being introduced into the live format, new songs are being unveiled at every turn and new fans are flocking en masse to see an emerging young band at the top of its genre.
YOU Charlie
Charlie P has had too many careers in this industry to name. He started his own record label (Abstract Logic Recordings) Produced and mastered several albums including 3 from his band ("The Book Was Better," "The New Monument," and "One Mississippi"), the digitally organic trio Random Rabbit. The focus of Random Rabbit's music, says Charlie P, is the emotional punch. To make people want to dance, you have to make them feel like it. “Music is a way to transcribe human emotion,” Charlie P says. “It's a way to capture an emotion and save it for later.” For Random Rabbit, the CDs represent not a library of tunes, but a library of emotions on tap at demand.

When a mutual friend introduced Trina Meade and Tomi Martin they knew right away that there was a special chemistry between the two. Even so, as one of the most sought-after guitar players in popular music by every superstar from OutKast to Eric Clapton, Tomi was not yet convinced that Trina would be the lead vocalist in the band he wanted to form. That is until Trina decided to prove to him that she could not only sing like no other, but she was also blessed with the ability to write great songs. You can sense a nervous excitement when Trina describes how she won him over. “One day Tomi was composing songs for what would become Sunlight and Toys and I decided I was going to sit down and show him what I could do. I wrote lyrics right then and there, singing along with him as he played. The funny thing is I was actually in the next room within earshot! I was too nervous to sit right there with him.”
The duo wrote their first song at that moment and never looked back. Stereo Popsicle, which is what they were initially called, released its first CD shortly afterward, generating a lot of buzz and radio airplay on three of Atlanta's top FM stations, each playing different songs: 99X (Mr. Lonely), Star 94 (Georgia) and 96 Rock (Story). This showed early on the mass following for the band across different demographics and music formats, from Rock to Pop to Alternative, the music appealed to all (and this is the true test of great songwriting!).
Details coming soon!
Blackheadz
Blackheadz is a band compiled of four individual musicians united in a common cause to represent the realness of original music and to express the true essence of Rock-n-Roll. With a motto like, “Rock, Punk-n-Roll and a lot of Fuckin Soul,” Blackheadz display what it means to express themselves genuinely and to not be cookie cutter musicians. The way Blackheadz came together in 2004 was very natural. They were four Rockers that happened to be friends and come to the same conclusion at the same time. That conclusion was to find likeminded individuals to form a band that would take over the world.
Shay – (Bass, lead vocals) Shay is the outspoken bad ass of the group. He is from Sparta, GA. Shay is they guy that will deliver raw truth despite the consequences. He is the owner of 2High Studios and also president of his sons PTA. “What you see is what you get” – Shay.
B. Mac – (Keyboard, Vocals) B. is a mysterious character from Cleveland, Ohio, who is rich with musical influence and knowledge. He has performed as a backup singer and dancer for TLC. He has also opened for the Indigo Girls on a tour with his band Social Insanity. “I am the embodiment of the God Power” - BMack.
Shep! – (Drums, Vocals) Shep! is from LaGrange, GA. He is a motorcycle instructor and is about playing loud and hard. “I drum, I ride, I dance, and I eat, then I drum, ride, dance and eat some more” – Shep!
Jermaine - (Guitar,Vocals) Jermaine is the newest member of Blackheadz and a great addition to the band. With is "Cover of Rolling Stone Magazine Circa 1976" Presence and his amazing guitar skills, Blackheadz is a force to be reckoned with!
Blackheadz debut album, 8 Inches or More speaks of fun, sex, politics, rock and roll, lust, self-reliance, and the state of American society. Each song is packed with a message that is sure to nibble or tug at your ear (depending on what you are into). The melodies and rhythms are intense and full of energy. Each song packs enough power to catch the attention of all types of music lovers.
